Setting Up a Small Catering Business- How Much and In What Oder.

by Debbie

Can you please list initial cost of setting up a mobile catering van. Please include insurance cover for the van and any other insurances needed.

In what order should things be done first. Food & Hygiene certificate, LPG Test Certificate, Trading Licence etc. Please advise of anything else that i need to do BEFORE purchasing my vehicle.

My business goal is to simply start small in my local area offering hot food at lunch times only. If all goes well, i would hope to widen my food offering and extend my geographical route.

I have a small amount of money which I recently inherited, therefore, I don't want to waste this opportunity and really want to make my business work. I may not get the opportunity again if all goes wrong.

Thanks
Debbie

Best Order To Star Up Your Catering Business
by: Anonymous

Hi Debbie,

In Order

The first thing you should do is to get your:

Food & Hygiene certificate
Find pitch
Buy or rent your trailer
Register with Local council who will inspect your trailer including Food and Hygiene Cert
Get your LPG test certificate
Get Your Electric Cert if you have any electrical equipment (best to avoid use all lpg instead)
Get your liability insurance
Practice cooking
Buy your stock

Cost varies depending on which trailer, what equipment, and rent.I would hazard a guess of anywhere from £3-£5000.Make sure to research thoroughly and make sure this business opportunity is for you.

Best of luck and let me know how it all goes

Regards
David
