Cheapest Towing Vehicle to Insure. Not Been Driving Long!

Catering trailer at Hyde Park


Hi, I am wanting to try and find what would be the cheapest towing vehicle to insure, Ideally I am looking to tow a trailer arond 12 or 14 feet.

I have not been driving long at all (less than a year!) So I'm not even sure if it will be at all possible.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Hi there not only for insurance but check your licence as my son past his test in Feb this year 2012 and he is not covered for towing a trailer he will have to sit another test to do this so please check your licence catagories.

Hello There,

I understand the fact that you haven’t been driving long, but you must make sure that you get the right vehicle for the job. You really need a vehicle with a decent engine size to tow a catering trailer, either a 4w drive or transit van of some sort.

I’m thinking that it should be a minimum of 2ltr engine upwards to tow a trailer successfully.

So it all depends on what type of vehicle you will be going for. Unfortunately the bigger the engine size the more it will cost you to insure.

But you must make sure that whatever you choose has got enough oomph to pull your catering trailer.

You might find it helpful to either find a specialist insurance provider that can get you a better deal, or insure only for a month at a time or when you need to tow your trailer.
