Starting a Mobile Catering Pancake Business

I want to set up a pancake business and really want to get stuck in.I also have 12 years catering experience so I am confident.

I just wanted to ask, did you need insurance, licences etc before you started trading (while you were fixing up the van) and what insurance, licences do I need.

p.s. thank you for this great website; I have been going nuts looking for basic info.I really want to get a mobile pancake unit, looking to start off on Sunday markets moving to full time.Want to be financially independent and work for myself and build a good brand.

Hi Phil,

Your idea sounds like a great business! A pancake (and maybe crepe) business this will great especially coming up to summer.

To answer your question, yes I did have normal van insurance and liability insurance before I started up in business.

You also have to register the food business with the local council and have a valid F&H certificate, which I am sure you already aware since you are already working in the catering industry.If you need more details please don't forget to sign up to my free start up guide below.
