Do I Need License To Help Mobile Catering Business

I help out a friend at a nearby hotel and he wants me to work in his catering trailer. Do I need a street traders license just to work there as an employee?

I don't take a wage from him as I’m only helping out but does it still put me in the same category as I’m behind the counter serving?

Thanks. Mark

Food and Hygiene
by: David

Hi Mark,

If you intend to handle food while helping out your friend you will need an up to date food and hygiene certificate, and your friend should also have employee liability insurance for his business.

A street trading licence is normally in the name of the business owner and not his/her employees.

Hope this helps

David
