Planning Permission Name Change???

Hi David,

Thanks for all your great info on your site, it has certainly helped us get to the point of making an offer for a van and pitch. We have one question we have not managed to find the answer to. We are not sure if we need to change the planning permission for the van into our name or can we leave it as the previous owners until we need to renew in Jan 2015?

Hi Christine,

I not entirely sure what you mean but if you are referring to taking over someone's pitch then I would find out beforehand if you can change it over to your name.

It may be the case that there is a waiting list, especially if it's a council run pitch on, say for instance on an industrial estate. If this is the case the person selling this pitch may not be able to do so and it would only cause you problems in the future.

I say this only from experience as I was in the process of buying a pitch of somebody, but I checked with the local council and they confirmed that he was trading illegally and was about to be thrown off. So just please make sure before you part with any money that is all above board.
