Lpg Automatic Changeover Valve

by Bella

Hi I have recently purchased a burger van. There is no automatic changeover valve fitted for the gas bottles. I am going to get a gas engineer to fit one but I am unsure what I need to buy? Are they all the same?

LPG Gas Valve

Hell Bella,

Tell the gas engineer what equipment you are using, he will be able to size the regulator for you. The bottle size and number needs to be tailored to the appliance demand too, as an example, if you have a large regulator drawing from undersized gas bottles you will likely freeze the regulator in cold weather.

A pair of 19kg bottles will give 38kw in mild weather less in very cold conditions, standard auto change over regulators start at a rating of 63kw, so your supply will be based on the smallest capacity component 38kw capacity, if you go up to 4 bottles you will require a regulator fitted with an opso safety device.

Hope than helps.
Brian
