Pancake crepe business

Pancake crepe business

Hi I'm interested in starting a pancake or crepe stall, now the pancakes and we'll be all ready made from and come from ASDA, will there be any competition, as you do get burgers and hotdog vans on car boot sale.

Also pancakes are mainly served during breakfast (US and Canada) but here they are unique.
Do you still need a health and safety certificate to sell them, as we would like to know before we buy ourselves a stall?

I am thinking about setting up a mobile business selling American style "fat" pancakes. My husband is a little reticent as he feels it is too niche but I feel it is good to have a USP any advice would be helpful

Pancake man!

If you are interested in selling pancakes send me an e-mail. I have a very successful seasonal pancake shop for 5 years. I also had a shop on wheels so I know all the ins and outs of the business. Hope to hear from you, Gj

Starting a Pancake Business
by: David

Hi Julia,

Most hot food catering vans and trailers don’t really sell pancakes, unless it’s a dedicated vehicle. So to find out if you will have any competition either go and take a look or ask the event organiser who should be able to tell you.

Pancakes are more of an America speciality but if they taste nice enough, the right price and you can supply a great cup of coffee/tea then it’s worth a shot.

You should also get yourself a food and hygiene certificate which is not that hard.

A lot of the questions are multiple choice and the test itself is not a great deal of money. You may also find that the event organiser will want to see that you have a certificate anyway before you can start trading.

Hope this helps

Best of luck
David
