I’m 68 and Want to Start My Own Catering Trailer Business

by Chuck
(Shreveport La. Caddo Parish)

I am getting a trailer ready to work at festivals all around Louisiana.

At the moment I want to sell boiled peanuts-Both regular and spicy Cajun. If there is no demand for that then just hot dogs and drinks to get my foot in the door and lean more as I go.

I AM 68 but in very good shape. Roofing houses and buildings are really starting to get to me and I have always wanted to get into catering. Have a small trailer that I will turn into whatever I need to get started.

Any help on this matter would be great. Also open to suggestions on a business name. Thanks

Food Truck Business Louisiana

Hi Chuck,

Can’t say I have any experience with mobile catering in the state of Louisiana, but I’m pretty sure it’s more or less the same as in the U.K. In other words find a good location to sell the food, get registered with a local authority, permits, insurance etc.

Below are a few links that should be of some help to you, keep going and at 68, you’re a good inspiration to us all that it’s never too late to start a business.

Food Permits

Best of luck Chuck, and please do keep up updated!
