How to Find a Secure Place to Store my Trailer Overnight

by Derek
(Glasgow)

I have asked on FB if anyone knows where I can store my trailer overnight securely - preferably with access to electrical points, but no one has got back to me.

Does anyone have any idea where I would start to look for a suitable location?

If anyone knows of a location in Glasgow even better :-)

Here are some practical steps to help you find a secure overnight storage location for your trailer (with optional electric access) in Glasgow:

1. Use Google Maps and Search Engines

Search for:

"secure trailer storage Glasgow"

"caravan storage with electricity Glasgow"

"motorhome storage Glasgow with electric hookup"

"vehicle storage Glasgow"

Look at reviews, security features (CCTV, gated access), and whether they mention electric points.

2. Try These Specific Types of Locations

Caravan & Motorhome Storage Sites
Many offer 24/7 security and power access.
e.g., StoreMyCaravan, CaSSOA approved sites

Self-Storage Companies
Some have outdoor plots for vehicles and trailers (e.g., Big Yellow, Safestore, Armour Storage)

Industrial Estates or Business Parks
Contact units with outdoor space—some rent out part of their lot securely.

Farmers / Landowners

Use websites like:

https://www.yourparkingspace.co.uk

https://www.justpark.com

3. Post in These Glasgow-Specific Facebook Groups or Forums

Glasgow Buy/Sell/Trade or Catering Equipment Glasgow

Motorhome & Trailer Storage UK

Local community groups (e.g., "Southside Glasgow", "East End Glasgow Noticeboard")

Use clear phrasing like:

"Looking for secure overnight trailer storage with optional power – ideally near [your postcode/area]. Willing to pay reasonable weekly/monthly fee."

4. Check with Local Businesses

Approach:

Mechanic garages

Vehicle rental depots

Marinas or boatyards

Campsites (some allow trailer storage)

Council-owned yards (less likely but worth asking)

5. Glasgow-Specific Suggestions

You might try contacting:

Park & Ride locations (for temporary secure parking)

Knightswood Secure Storage

Clyde Self Storage (Hillington)

Caravan Storage Glasgow – based near Baillieston

Hope this helps somewhat, let us know how you get on and others may also have some suggestions.

Best of luck,
