Extractor Fan For Catering Trailer

Hi everybody,

I need a bit of help! I have recently purchased a lovely catering trailer which I'm hoping to have up and running after Christmas, however it doesn't have an extractor fan?

It has a chimney just above the griddle which is located in front of the hatch, the boiler is on the back wall and when we put the boiler on all the steam collected on the ceiling which was then dripping down everywhere, surely I cant run the trailer like that?

It's not safe, so I obviously need some sort of extractor fan, I am completely new to all this so have no idea what would be suitable or where to get it from or where to position it so any help would be great, thanks in advance.

Gas cut off switch

However there is current no requirement to have mechanical ventilation in catering trailers, only natural ventilation at a rate of 25cms2/kilowatt of appliance power, divided between high and low level. If using mechanical extraction, it is good practise to interlock it's operation to the gas supply.

That quote above was in 2014 has the law changed since that or is it dtill the same as regards ventilation

Extractor Fan Mobile Catering

Hi Emma,

The first port of call should be a reputable catering trailer manufacturer to have your trailer quoted for a purpose made extraction canopy if that is what you require.

However there is current no requirement to have mechanical ventilation in catering trailers, only natural ventilation at a rate of 25cms2/kilowatt of appliance power, divided between high and low level. If using mechanical extraction, it is good practise to interlock it's operation to the gas supply.

Hope that helps,
Brian
