Start a Candy Floss Business
by: David-

Hello all,

If you are interested in selling candy floss, you should opt for a commercial candy floss grade machine. These are designed to run all day and not break down.

I would also recommend a candy floss machines either built in the UK or from the USA, they seem to have a proven track record. And if they do suffer a breakdown, parts are easily available.

A good grade machine will cost around the £900+ mark. It may seem like a lot, but you can make £2-£300 pounds on a good pitch a day, it will soon pay for itself. You can, of course, get one at half the price on eBay or gumtree, but if it breaks down, you'll probably end up buying a new machine anyway.

For those of you who don't have the time or want the hassle or risk associated with sourcing the wrong candy floss equipment or supplies. Please consider the candy floss essential startup package

Power
by: Anonymous

From experience forget using a genny, the candy floss machine takes a lot of power when starting, initial draw for the motor and the heating band, it must also be used on a 13 Amp outlet which is SOLELY used for it. Popcorn machine takes next to nothing. I have LOST Hundreds of ££££'s when an organiser has said "Oh it's a big commercial generator lot's of power." Only to find it is used by the Bouncy castle and bar as well as the stage as well, Candy floss, popcorn, and slush, SHOULD have made £300 at least , came away with £60. Not good. ;-( .Brian

Candy Floss Business
by: David

Hi Chrissie,

In most cases the event organiser will usually supply electric/mains current as part of the pitch fee. If this is not the case you will then need to supply your own electricity by means of a generator.

Depending on the combined power consumption of both pop corn and candy floss machines, you will need to find/hire a generator with enough power to run both machines.

If you can find out the combined power consumption for both machines, you can then calculate what size generator you will need.

Equipment will need to be P.A.T tested to make sure it all works okay and it's not going to cause a hazard to anyone.

This post has a link to a generator calculator to give you an idea of what size of generator will be needed: What Size Generator Do I Need

Hope this info helps,

Best of luck
