Butane in Commercial Premises

I am opening a takeaway butty bar that has no supply of natural gas so I have bought a lpg oven with a connection for butane gas cylinders however I have been told because there is not filter canopy in the premises I wont be able to trade as this does not comply with healthy and safety regulations.

Do you know if this is true?

Floor Mounted Fryers
by: Brian

Hi Charlie

The regulations state that floor mounted fryers require a canopy, they are not essential for an oven.

If by oven you mean a commercial range cooker rated at approx 45kw, then I would advise estimating it's use in order to work out the impact on air quality.
If this is the first gas appliance you are installing, note the gas bottles must be outside the cooking area, preferably in a compliant storage locker, pipework inside must be copper or steel with accessible cut off valves and permanent ventilation in addition to that provided by the hatch and door.

Hope this helps.

Brian
