Ready to Buy Mobile Catering Business - Does This Deal Sound Right to You?

Hi David and all

Ok so I have done all my research and now know what is needed to start up.

I have been given this offer and would like to know what you all think of it before I jump into it.

Catering van and pitch
Large van fully equipped fridges/griddle etc
All electrics PAT tested
4 Star food hygiene cert
Weekly turnover of around £500
Gross profit of £400
Rent is £50 a week
Current working hours 8-2 mon-fri

The trailer is stored at night in a unit on the industrial estate so I have no reason to have to tow it which is also where my electric feed comes from ( on its own metre) water is free.
The pitch is 15 miles from my home.

Now i have spoken to this chap who is selling and it all seems above board and genuine, no books showing huge profits or a load of make believe stories which is great.

So what do you think....?

Oh I could get this for £7000.

Thank you

Buying a Mobile Catering Business
by: David

Hi Barry,

All sounds good so far, but do contact your local council to make sure that the current owner has the legal right to trade on the current pitch. Also, if this is a council owned pitch it’s not that easy to transfer the business over to you, so do check to make sure of this as well.

If it’s not a council owned pitch, contact the current landlord and make sure that all paper work/contracts are up to date and binding.

You don’t want to hand this money over to discover that the landlord has a list of people
waiting to take over this pitch.

Apart from these checks, the rest of the details that you have listed sound reasonable. Check over all LPG/Electric certificates to make sure that those also are up to date.

Hope this helps and please do keep up updated.

Best of luck to you Barry,
David
