Mobile Catering Business - Is it Too Soon To Start?

Hi Dave and thanks for all the info on your site, glad I found it.

I have bought a catering trailer and will be towing it back in the morning, have all the insurances in place and just became a member of NCASS which I would recommend to anyone starting out in this field.

I have a storage location and possibly a site on industrial estate. The problem is there are already two trailers operating there even though I won't be trading till mid April. So Iā€™m just trying to get everything in place before I start. Am I doing this the right way round or should I have waited till nearer the time before buying a van.

I also phoned the local authority for planning permission, but too many obstacles are put in the way so have decided to start this way to gain experience and then look towards small events.

Thanks again for a great site

Mike

No Right Way To Get Started With Mobile Catering
by: David

Hi Mike,

I always recommend that people start their mobile catering business by trying to secure a pitch first, as this can be the hardest part to accomplish.

It seems though, that you have managed to buy yourself a catering trailer and find a pitch to trade from.Even though it may work out a little over crowded to start off with, so well done to you!

In other words there is no absolute right way to start your mobile catering business as long as you get started - which is what you have done.

April is still a little way off and you may have by then have found an alternative catering pitch. Either way you get invaluable experience and will also learn a lot.

You may want to check out the www.eventsbook.co.uk which also list, up and coming events such as festival, fetes, markets and more from around the county.

Best of luck with your new business and please keep us updated.

Regards
David
