Gas Certificate For Camping Stoves

by Jack

Hi,

I operate a catering trailer selling hot sweet treats and I use a couple of camping stoves for cooking some ingredients. They use the replaceable butane gas cartridges as the fuel source.

My question is if I need a gas certificate to operate these pieces of equipment?

Thanks

Gas Certificate Camping Stoves
by: Brian

Not being part of a fixed installation, they are not covered by the gas safety regulations, but they are covered by the PUWER regulations

PUWER Regulations

Organisers and local authorities may require evidence of maintenance in accordance with the above.

For hog roast machines I issue a service certificate covering an operational and gas safety checks, which have appeared to satisfy the authorities.

Worth noting that butane cylinders are not suitable for winter use as they freeze up easily.

Pop up kitchen gas safety guidance is covered by UKLPG Code of practice 24 part 4.

Hope that helps
