Use a Catering Trailer or Would a Caravan Do?

Hi, I’m thinking of starting up a catering van business. Would I have to buy a purpose built trailer or would I be able to use my own 14ft caravan.

I have a fridge and cooker, oven and grill in the caravan, it’s not be ideal but would like to try it to see if I can cope with it before committing to anything.

Rent a Catering Trailer
by: David

Hi Steve,

You would be better off renting a catering trailer for a while rather than using your caravan. A caravan is not really designed to sell food in the same way as a catering trailer.

You will also need to register your food vehicle with the local council who will come out and inspect your vehicle, which in itself may not go down well for you.

Also why not consider getting a few days work in another trailer to see if it’s something you want to do full time, this will give you a pretty good idea if it’s for you.

Best of luck

David
