Setting up an Event Catering Business

by Dan

I have been reading your website and email updates with great interest.

I am looking at setting up an event catering business starting with small events ranging from music, cars and other interests and slowly building up to the larger more well known events.

My main concern at this stage is obtaining pitches at these events, the rents and how far in advance all the pitches are fully booked? Obviously, I realise the bigger events will have their caterers organised maybe a year in advance, but will this be the case for the smaller events?

I understand this may be a difficult question to answer but any help with me understanding how the organisers get there caterers, how far in advance they are booked in etc will of course help.

I appreciate any help you can offer and I look forward to hearing from you.

Thanks

Dan

Catering at Events

Hi Dan,

It?s great to hear that you will be starting your own event catering business. This is a very competitive area so you must make sure that you have something different and unique to offer.

With regards to booking pitches the earlier you book the better choice you will have.

Most popular events are run yearly so event organisers may choose to use the same caterers (that why it?s a good idea to stand out from the rest) There are also many other events around the country which are also great to attend ? again the earlier you book the better choice you should have with placement with in the event, high footfall areas.

Please also be aware of unscrupulous event organiser who will advertise bogus events just to get their hands on your money. Do all you checks before hand to make sure that the venue/pitch has actual been booked and that any band/acts have also been secured for that event.
