by leman
(Hackney)

Hi I am thinking of buying a burger van and the ones that I keep seeing are old in age. If the van is diesel and more than 10 years old by law do I need to convert to lpg, or is it the equipment inside the burger van that need to be LPG, please advice

Thanks.
Lem

Diesel Filter
by: David-

Hi Robert,

I don't know the type of diesel filter you will need, so you should contact a garage in your local area for them to give you a quote. Sorry, this is beyond my expertise.

Best,
David

Filter For Diesel Van Over 10yrs Old For The London Area
by: Robert

Hi,
I have just purchased a mobile catering van which has a Diesel engine and is over ten years in age. The van will be operating in the London area. Transport For London operate a low emission zone within the London area. Can you advice me on the type of Filter that would be required and where this can be done?

Kind regards,

Robert

Diesel Van Over 10yrs Old For The London Area
by: David

Hi Lem,

Yes, this is the case if you live in the London area. It’s part of TFL low emission zone in a bid to improve air quality and it’s aimed at older diesel vehicles. This hits large vans, 4X4 that have a gross weight of between 1.2 and 3.5 tonnes.

You will need to have a particulate filter added to your exhaust system which is not cheap. The only other option is to find a petrol engine catering van as it only applies to diesel engines.

This does not apply to catering equipment inside only to the vehicle itself.

Kind Regard
David
